Weekly Blog: August 7-11
Classes:
Science:
We were basically just setting up in every class. In science, Ms. Fujimoto told us how we should take initiative so we can learn better, and that we should always put 100% of our effort into work. She also gave us the complete list of things we need for the two years we will be here, so we can get right to work on Monday.
Math:
Ms. Gouveia made sure that we know where to find everything in our math books and showed us the various resources we had to do our work so we would have no excuses for not doing homework. This is extremely helpful to me, as I often used to forget to  bring homework home.
Leadership:
I tried to help set up A101 as much as I could. I also learned how to use Spotify and am currently setting up my playlist. While we presented our Bio Cubes, I tried to project my voice, but I don't really like talking about me and who I am. I also had to improvise and use the cube as a guide to what I would say. I'll get better at it.
Band:
Mr. Kawasaki talked about how band is a community, so we need to work together, and how we will earn our instruments by turning in work. He also said that we have after school rehearsals every Monday from 2:25-3:30. I hope I don't have to be at rehearsal or a concert and somewhere for leadership at the same time!
English:
Ms. Scarborough explained how we'll be doing most of our work online on a chromebook, and that we need an internet contract (No one even knows what that is!!) On Friday, she told us to write something so she knows our writing level. I wrote a story a page and a half long. It's pretty depressing. I wrote about a girl who lives in Detroit and doesn't see herself have much of a future. I might have overdone myself.
Social Studies:
Mr. Chong told us that we were going to be learning about Hawaiian history this year. He said we would focus on King Kamehameha and the Hawaiian monarchy. It's interesting and all, but I don't know how it would benefit me unless I became a war general for a conventional war. I guess I'll find a use for it sometime.
Highlight/Lowlight:
Highlight:
Working with my friend in science.
Lowlight:
Missing the bus on Thursday.
Lesson learned:
I learned that sometimes a slow start is needed to do something well. We literally spent a week getting settled, but on Monday we can get right to classes. I also learned to get to the bus stop early so you don't miss the bus.
